Making a Difference

To develop the lake project we are using Technology & Mobility with out having any extra manpower. several steps have been taken under lake policing project

1. Constuction of Lake Station

Hitherto a temporary steel Structure with no facilities for the policemen.
HUDA was kind enough to allot 200 sq. yards in lieu of the old out post area.
OP constructed with Buddhist architecture (pagoda) so as to fit with the surroundings.
New OP has water and toilet facilities enabling policemen to stay 24 hours.
Reception / seating facilities for visitors / complainants.
A will phone, with number 25502211 with caller ID facility made available.
Has a monitor to watch the happenings all around with a high Resolution wireless sony camera mounted on a 55 feet tall tower.
A VHF set provided for Wireless Communicatin Constructed at a cost of Rs. 4.5 lakhs. Helps police observe the Maktha Area.

2.Wireless Surveillance of Entire Area

This Wireless Surveillance with Remote Control being used by Police in India
For the first time.
One High Resolution observation camera Sony Make with 22 X lenses Imported from japan fitted at the lake station point on a 55 feet tall tower.
The DCP (Deputy Commisionor of Police)-Central Zone can observe & control the camera from his office (7 Km. away) waht is happening all around Hussain Sagar Lake & can PAN - TILT - ZOOM the Camera on any object within 3 Km of the Lake Station

Features of camera
a) High speed PAN(horizotal), Tilt (vertical) and Zoom.
b) Auto lris (lens adjustment as per lilght availability).
c) 22 'X' lens ; can zoom in / focus 3 kms away.
d) Weather proof : can tolerate 55 c heat and 10 c cold , rain, wind, rust, etc.
e) Night vision : has B.L.C (Black Light Facility) and can pickup images at night.

Features of this System
A) Coverage up to 40 kms (crow fly distance).
B) Point to point Broadcasting and Terrestrial Reception.
C) high security - No tapping possible due to coding.
D) Telemetry - Data through computer.
E) Robotics - Machine Operation.
F) Video conferencing facility.
G) Audio facility.
H) Recordig facilities (8 hours on software).
I) Colour.
J) Live transmission.

The Wireless Surveillance System Comprises of
a). the sony camera.
b). transmitter Antenna.
c). Receiver Antenna.
d). Antenna is yagi loop model i.e. it has rings which compress and amplify the picture with out fading.
e). In built sophisticated high frequency modulator which amplifies signals 300 times and throws them in the air with 100 mtrs. bandwidth.
f). The working frequency of the transmitter and receiver is between 1200 MHz. to 1300 Mhz.
g). This is transmitted to the receiver which is connected to the monitor (TV) and we see the live picture.
h). Recorder.
i). Control panel - Camera can be controlled from DCP's office in central zone control and in the lake station through cell phone as a remote.
j). Operates on tele remote control through digital signal with the help f a special microprocessor.

The Entire camera system, Antennas, Recording Facilities etc. costs Rs. 6 lakhs.

Digital Wireless Network

We are planning to instal a DIGITAL WIRELESS NETWORK in central zone as this zone is the focus for agitational rogrammes and VIP movements. This will be for the 1st time in police department in india.

Comprises of
a). A repeater at Naubath pahad.
b). Receiver station at DCP central zone office.
c). 5 important locations identified to set up towers and cameras, namely Secretariat, Assembly, Abidis, Indira park, RTC 'X' roads.
d). DCP, 3 ACPs can watch all events going on from their office and zoom, pan & tilt any of the cameras.
The cost of this Project is about RS. 52 Lakhs.
The Digital transmissions are superior to analog transmissions because no overlapping of signals, signals can be controlled by coding and decoding systems, the number of points / antennas / control can be increased as desired, video conferencing, recording and many other facilities can be added on.

Brief Comparison between Wireless Link and Fibre Optics

Cost : 1km of fibre optic of 2 mbps Bandwidth costs Rs. 10 lakhs for 1 km. Rental for the same 1 km. of fibre will be Rs. 20,000 per anuum. 2 mbps Bandwidth is required for video transmission.
Fibre optics as a one time investment on the proposed project is too high (10crores) on rental basis it would incur a cost of Rs.10 lakh per annam only for the fibre, all other material will cost extra.
We become totally dependent on the fibre optic supplier for services offered for operation & maintenance.
Relocation, mobile monitoring ( in our vehicles), remote contrl are not easy or possible in fibre optics.

3.Lake Mobile Introduced

Jeep will move only on roads around hussain sagar lake , 24 hours / round the clock.
Fully dedicated, provides security to morning walkers & evening turists.
Fitted with a BSNL Fixed will phone(1) with only incoming call facility and wiht called ID facility. Its number is 25500000.
Donated by BSNL, will have no monthly rental. Our thanks to sri Muni Shekar, D.G.M.
Any one in trouble around the hussain sagar lake can call this number & the jeep will rush to his / her help.
it is specially fitted with Sirens, Flashing lights, Mike system, Search light, and VHF set-very high frequency communication set.

4.Lake Speed Boat Introduced
will constantly move on the waters and try to prevent any suicide attempts, carry out rescue operations. Will help the local police shift the usually highly decomposed bodies. Has search lights for movement at night. Has a siren & 40 HP engine, runs on petrol and white kerosene.	Donated by A.P.Tourism Dept.

5.Uniform

Special Jackets & Helmets issued to Lake Police Personnel to give separate identity to Lake Police.
Code Of Conduct for Lake Police Personnel
Do's :
1. Be very polite ,Courteous and helpful.
2. Regulate parking of vehicles.
3. Prevent Accidents.
4. Control Prostitution, apprehend pimps.
5. Prevent Crime, snatching and pick pocketing.
6. prevent eve teasing .
Dont's :
1. No harassment of vendors - regulate them
2. No troubling of couples
3. No drunken behavior

6.Swimmers
Expert swimmers of kakinada / machilipatnam recruited as home Guards. They have been trained in life saving tecniques & Motor Boat driving. They are equipped with life saving jackets. Motor Boat will constantly move on the waters and try to prevent suicide attempts and help in shifting decomposed bodies. Will work in two shifts. Will be equipped with a VHF set.

7.Mounted Police Introduced
They Will help in a) Crowd Control b) Monitoring traffic movement. c) will be pressed into service on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and on other public holidays from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

8.Women Police Introduced
Women SI Madhavi Latha will be incharge of entire sector and lake policing project. She'll be accompanied by a women constable.

9.Lake Motor Cycle Introduced
Will constantly move around the lake . Has VHF communication set. 2 Blue Colts PCs will move on it & also women police.

10.Tourist Police Introduced
The tourism Department has acceded to our request & sanctioned two tourist police personnel. They will assist and guide the lake police to help us fulfill our motto 'We R for U'.
